Burns

Burns are terribly painful injuries that result from overheating of the skin. They can occur during everyday tasks or from overexposure to the sun without protection. There are three types of burns: first-degree, second-degree and third-degree burns. For first-degree and most second-degree burns (where the skin is still intact), it is important to moisturize the skin properly. To do this, use products that do not irritate the skin and are actually soothing.

Burns are terribly painful injuries that result from overheating of the skin. They can occur from everyday tasks or from too long exposure to the sun without protection.

There are three types of burns: first-degree, second-degree and third-degree burns.

First-degree burns are characterized by red and dry skin, similar to a sunburn. These wounds can be self-treated and do not need to be seen by a doctor.

Second-degree burns can be recognized by redness and blisters or moist patches on the skin. Usually you can treat these wounds yourself. When in doubt, always consult a doctor.

Finally, there are third-degree burns where the skin is completely gone and no pain is experienced because the nerve endings are also burned. The skin usually has a yellow or black color. In case of third-degree burns, always consult a doctor immediately.

What to do in case of burns?

First aid for burns is to cool the wound with lukewarm, running water. Although this may seem long, you should continue to cool the skin for at least 15 minutes and preferably longer. This helps draw the heat out of the skin and reduces pain.

How do I care for burns?

For first-degree and most second-degree burns (where the skin is still intact), it is important to keep the skin well moisturized. To do this, use products that are not irritating to the skin and are actually soothing.

For sunburns, it is important to moisturize the skin well and protect it from further sun exposure. The hannah Touch of Silk and First Aid are perfect options to care for sunburned skin. These products are gentle on the skin and soothe it. The silicones in Touch of Silk prevent scarring and promote beautiful, even healing of the skin.

In the evening, the skin can be very gently cleansed with the hannah Cleansing Milk. This mild cleansing milk has a pH value that is neutral for the skin, so that its natural protective barrier is not affected and it does not dry out unnecessarily. After cleansing the skin, hannah Vitamin Complex is highly recommended: it provides intensive care thanks to the addition of vitamins A, D, E, F and K, which are immediately absorbed by the skin and help the healing process.

To prevent the skin from (further) burning, it is important to use a mild sunscreen suitable for your skin type.

Note: Do not use these products on an open wound without consulting a doctor. Always be careful with burns and make sure to moisturize and cool them properly.
